So, the Quarter 3 project is due this week. We'll check the project for completion on Monday, and start presenting. Remember, we don't have school on Tuesday, so you'll stay home and we'll pick up the presentations again on Wednesday. I'm not sure how long it will take to get all the projects presented. I'm planning on presenting all week, but we might finish up early. We'll just sort of play it by ear.
Hey 7th graders!
Hey all!
So, here’s the plans for the week. Monday – We reviewed for the test. The kids took notes. It was awesome. Tuesday – Test on Chapter 9 of the text! Wednesday – Multimedia day! They say a picture is worth a thousand words. Well, I’m going to show the 7th grades about 312,255 words worth of pictures, give or take a few. We’re going to look at some video lips and some pics soon the giant smartboard that I have in my room! There will be an analysis sheet the student fill out while we do this, that will be due at the end of class. Thursday – ER days are short days! On Thursday we’ll check the notebooks (the students should have all 100 facts in their notebooks at this point). And take a quiz on the Critical Facts. Friday – Q3 Project work day! This is the 2nd, and last, day in class the students will have to work on their Q3 Projects. The Project itself is due next Monday! Remember, if a refresher is needed on the specific requirements, the rubric is on the website! I’m looking forward to seeing some of the presentations next week. Here are the plans for the week!
Monday – President’s Day! I know how disappointing it is to miss school. And I know that all the students would much rather be at school than hanging about the house, eating pie and playing video games. I’m afraid we are all subject to the whims of the federal government, however, and have to take a day off of school. Tuesday – On Tuesday I’ll pick up the GR9 worksheet, and I’ll assign a map for the students to complete. It’s a map of New Mexico. It’s due on Thursday, and it needs to have the following things on it…. 1.Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Las Cruces, Roswell, Silver City, Portales, Hobbs, Las Alamos, Las Vegas, and Taos 2.Rivers – Rio Grande, Pecos, Gila, San Juan, Canadian 3.The Sandia Mountains, and one other mountain chain. 4.All major Interstate Highways that go through New Mexico (I-25, I-40, I-10) 5.Three other things of the student’s choice (ie Navajo Nation, Four Corners, Acoma/Sky City, White Sands, Carlsbad Caverns, Lincoln, etc.) 6.I would like to see a title, key, scale, and compass rose on each map. They don’t have to be colored, but I would like to see some effort. Wednesday – We’ll check the Critical Facts notebook today. Students should have all the Critical facts written down in their notebooks (1-100). I’ll give a Test on the Chapter 1-9 Critical Facts. Study study! Thursday – The Mexican-American War! The Revolt of 1837 AND 1847! People using the Governor’s head for a football (no, really…) and anarchy oi the streets! We’ll talk about it on Thursday. Students will take notes. It will be awesome. Friday – We’ll review for the Chapter 9 exam, which will be on Monday. On another note…remember that the Quarter 3 projects are due on Feb. 29th! The students have had one work day, and they will have another one next week. You might want to touch base on how they are doing. It would be best to NOT wait till the very last second to try to write a paper…. Hey 7th Graders! Here are the plans for the week! Monday – We’ll review the information for the Chapter 8 exam. I handed out the GR8 the kids finished last week so they can study it for the test! Also, make sure they touch base on their Critical Facts, as there are a few of them on the exam as well. Tuesday – The students will take the Chapter 8 Exam. They will also get the next (and final!) batch of Critical Facts for 7th grade NM History, which they can work on after they finish the exam. Wednesday – We’ll grade the exam in class. It shouldn’t take long (no essay questions on this one) and afterwards we’ll do a recap of the information from this Unit. Thursday – This will be the first (of two) project work days for the Q3 Project. It’s due on the 29th of February! I’ll have computers in the classroom and the students can work on research, graphics, or the paper. Friday – We’ll start Chapter 9 in the text. There will be a brief intro to the chapter, and I’ll assign some work to make sure the kids read it. And there you have it. :) Hey all, Below is a copy of the rubric for the Q3 Project. We talked about this in class, but if you need to refresh your memory, take a look!
Hey all, So here's a copy of the Timeline Rubric, as well as the GR8. Remember, both of tehm are due on Thursday! (Except for 5th period...they have till Friday to get the time line in.
Hellooooo 7th Graders (and Parents)
Here are the plans for the week! Monday – All right then, so on Monday we finalized our groups and topics for the Quarter 3 Project. I also made two homework assignments. The first was for the students to create a timeline. We talked about it in class on Monday, and they’ll get a rubric to take home. Lastly, the students will get the guided reading worksheet for chapter 8. Both of these assignment will be due on Thursday! I know that’s two assignments on the same day, but I put in extra classwork time in during the week so the students won’t get too swamped with homework. Tuesday – On Tuesday we’ll check the Critical Facts Notebook, and we’ll take a quiz over the contents of the notebook. The students should have 69 facts written into their notebook so far. I’ll give the next batch of Critical Facts to the students at the end of the class, and if there is any time left the student can work on getting them into their notebooks. Wednesday – There’s a lot of work today, so I decided to give the students Wednesday as a workday. They may work on their timeline, or the GR8, or their Q3 Project. However, that must complete both the GR8 and the timeline before working on their Q3 Project. Thursday – The Guided Reading for Chapter 8, and the Student Timeline are both due at the beginning of class. We’ll use the Guided Reading to go over the main points of the chapter. The students will take notes. It will be awesome! Friday – On Friday we’ll discuss the contents of Chapter 8 in full. There will be more notes. The kids just love taking notes. No, really. Sort of. Well, maybe not. But I’ll make sure the students know what I want from them on the test (which will be next Tuesday). And that will wrap up our week!
