Hey 9th graders! Her's the plans for the week. Take a look. There's a LOT going on this week, and you are pretty busy in Social Studies. Don't get surprised by a quiz, study!
Monday - Critical Facts Introduction. I'll give you your first batch of Critical Facts and we'll talk about how those will impact what you need to do for my class. If you don't have a critical facts notebook by Friday, you'll need to get one!
Tuesday - There'll be a quiz on the Midwestern states. If you don't know them you should take a look at the map packet I gave you! Your Latitude and Longitude worksheet that I gave you last week is also due today. Be sure to have it done! We'll spend most of the day talking about prehistory.
Wednesday - You'll start the class with a quick quiz on the Southern states. Be sure to study. You'll also need your textbook today! We'll take a look at it. It's a pretty good book, and I think you'll like it a lot better than the one you had for 7th grade. Take it home and read the introductory chapter, please. I'll assign GRi (that's the Guided Reading worksheet for the introductory chapter) and give you some time to work on it.
Thursday - Turn in your GRi at the beginning of class. Also, I'll give you a quick quiz on your reading. If you finish your worksheet you should do fine on it. I plan on grading the GRi in class and discussing the material as we go. Thursday is a short class, however, so we'll see how far we get.
Friday - I'm giving you a quiz on the Northeastern States. Make sure you know them. I'll also check your Critical Fact notebooks for completion. Lastly, we'll talk about planning a paper. You'll be doing a lot of writing this year, so a little preparation for that might be a good thing. ;)
